FMP Sketchbook

For my final major project I have chosen to work in this beautiful leather book, I purchased it based on the fact the pages in this book are hand made paper which I find is beautiful to work onto. I am very excited to start adding my thought processes and research into this.
The first think I have done for my FMP is a mind map of all my general ideas that i have taken from my chosen title "Pattern". I have jot down all the links in which I feel go wonderfully with pattern.
My first form of research for my FMP was to look at Moroccan themed patterns. I found that my room was a good place that I could take primary research from as my the patterns on my bedding link well with morocco.
As part of my secondary research I have taken inspiration from images I have collected from the internet, I have then created a mini collage (some of the images I have heat transferred onto fabric as my main focus is textiles) Another thing I particularly like is how the colours of the images I have chosen go together.
Here I have mixed both primary and secondary research. I have found this sample of a wallpaper design based on my oil lamps that I have on display in my bedroom windowsill.
Here are photographs, some which I have taken myself and some taken from the internet. The photographs which I have taken myself are of a purse my grandma bought me as a present from one of her holidays abroad. I feel this purse links particularly well with my FMP as it looks Moroccan, however I am not entirely sure where it was originally made. Also it is patterned and made up of fabrics, sequins, embellishments, embroidery and beads.
As part of my experimentation I have taken an image from one of my mood boards and produced a critical studying using only felt. After producing a "blob" shape using green wool to represent a country I have needle felted on top to create a little pink elephant.
Throughout my FMP I decided to look at other patterns as well as moroccan patterns to expand my research. I found that a good place to look would be the textiles workshop at college. I came across some beautiful samples of textured patterns. From looking at these particular samples I could see that they had been produced using screen prints, puff binder, knit and wool. This has now inspired me to carry on looking at textured pattern as this could be a step further towards deciding of a final piece.
For this page I have began the look at knit and also figuring out how the samples shown through photographs on my previous page have been produced.
I have produced these patterns using only my finger tips and the wooden point at the end of a paint brush. I used black acrylic paint and thickly used it to create different textured patterned. I have produced these particular patterns as I have been inspired from one of my beddings.

Here is the bedding which triggered my inspiration ...
